Tony McAndrew

Academy coach Tony McAndrew has urged the Claret and Blue Army to back his players when they face FA Youth Cup winners Manchester City.

The Young Lions entertain City on Sunday (ko 12 noon) in the Premier Academy League U18 Play-off Final.

And McAndrew is looking for a decent crowd to lift Villa's Under-18s against a highly rated City side.

He told www.avfc.co.uk: "We end the season with another big game and it will be nice to see how the players handle the pressure at Villa Park.

"Hopefully we'll get a few fans here backing the team and we can end the season on a high. This will be another tough game but hopefully we can play to our potential.

"It does make a difference playing in front of a crowd and it can be another big part in the development of young players.

"The lads have done well all season to get to this final and, though we always say results are not the be all and end all at this stage in their development, they're understandably keen to finish on a high. It would be great to finish off the job."
