HarewoodMarlon Harewood has topped the www.avfc.co.uk poll in our search to find Villa's Player of the Month for February.

The striker polled a massive 48.5 per cent of the vote, with nearest rival John Carew on 19.8 per cent, followed by Ashley Young on 10.4 per cent.

Though he dislikes to tag, Harewood has become something of a supersub of late for Villa, offering Martin O'Neill and exciting attacking option from the bench.

The Villa boss enthused: "I couldn't be more pleased with him. I think he has been really excellent. He has galvanised the team and since his introduction at Liverpool he has been a genuine breath of fresh air.

"The crowd have taken to him. The crowd haven't taken lightly to him because like anything else, you still have to earn that right.

"He turned the game on its head against Liverpool, and his introductions in matches have been fantastic.

"Some people come on as a substitute and never get a kick. He has been able to force his way into the game, and not only force his way in but make a big impact in games."

Harewood told www.avfc.co.uk: "I want to play my part and obviously I'd rather not been known as 'super-sub' or anything like that. I want to start the games, but I don't make the choices. Martin picks the team and wherever he puts me, I'll be happy to be part of it.

"It's hard to take when you're not playing, but I'm experienced enough now to take it as it comes. There's no point getting irate about it. Once you go out on that pitch you have to show what you can do."

The former West Ham man is certainly doing that and his efforts have been recognised by the worldwide Claret and Blue Army.

Our latest poll asks if Villa can still catch Everton and Liverpool in the battle for fourth spot.
