Ashley Young has revealed rewarding the claret and blue faithful is top of the agenda when Martin O'Neill's men march out for action at Villa Park on Saturday.
The wing wizard has called on the Villa faithful to roar the lads on to victory against Portsmouth after admitting they are like a '12th man' on matchdays.
He said: "We need to bounce back at the weekend and it helps that the game is at home.
"The atmosphere at Villa Park has been amazing this season and the fans have really got behind us.
"They have genuinely been like a 12th man and the lads really feel like we need to reward them every time we step out for a home game. We want to put on a show for them. Three points is vital.
"We are unbeaten at home and that's a vital statistic. Historically, they say 'win your home games and pick up points on the road' and nothing has changed over the years.
"Every team wants to do well at home for the fans and we are no different.
"Portsmouth will be tough because they have started well. They are on the crest of a wave at the moment.
"But we will concentrate on our own game. We will take a lot of heart from our start to the season - in spite of the Chelsea defeat - and do the things that have helped us into fifth in the Barclays Premier League.
"The international break has been a bit of a hindrance. When you lose a game you want to put it right and get back to winning ways.
"We have had to wait a while but we are desperate to pick up three points at the weekend."
