Martin Laursen insists Villa will not be distracted by ongoing uncertainty surrounding Gareth Barry's future.

Speculation continued over the weekend but Danish international Laursen is sure his team mates can stay focussed on preparations for the Intertoto Cup.

Speaking at this afternoon's kit launch Laursen said: "It is not something I have anything to do with. It's between the club and Gareth and something they have to sort out together.

"I hope his situation can be sorted out so he can be happy and can continue to play wherever he wants to play.

"Let us concentrate on what is going on here. Hopefully we can get some good players in so we can compete at the highest level and try to improve on what we did last season."
