1966: Manchester United thrashed Villa 6-1 at Old Trafford in the penultimate game of the season.
1993: Villa's season came to a close with their third successive defeat, this time by 2-1 at Queens Park Rangers, leaving Villa ten points adrift of Manchester United at the top of the table.Compensation, of sorts, was that Villa had again qualified for European competition the following season in the UEFA Cup.

Villa's record Premiership crowd of 45,347 saw Robbie Fowler give Liverpool a first half lead in the last match to be played in front of the Holte End terracing in 1994. At half time Dwight Yorke replaced the injured Stefan Beinlich and 20 minutes later Yorke finished a Dean Saunders cross-shot to level the scores. Nine minutes from time Yorke struck again to give Villa a 2-1 win.
